Hand-Stamped in Sterling Silver:
“ I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captain of my Soul ” – William Ernest Henley
This quote has been with me so long that it dates back to 1988 when I was in high school.
It comes from a much longer quote and I simply just used the very end.
When I first made it… I included the two lines prior which was not well received by people. It became a big lesson for me in choosing my quotes to leave out any words that are clumsy or feel negative. Originally, it read “It matters not how straight the gate how charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul”
I loved the quote so much and did not want to discontinue it so I decided to just use the last line of the poem and it was an immediate hit. Now, here we are 25 yrs later and it is still one of the strongest sellers in my line.
I decided to do a compass design to complement the quote and to go along with the sensation of being a captain. Endless possibilities when one is the master and the captain!
